Duo Laroo/Byrd Live at New Space Studio

International jazz duo Saskia Laroo and Warren Byrd, known for their vibrant blend of jazz, funk, and blues, recently took the stage at New Space Studio in The Hague, the Netherlands, delivering a mesmerizing near 40-minute live set. 

Recorded on June 22, 2024, this intimate video captures the duo’s dynamic synergy, with Warren Byrd on piano, keys, vocals, and bongos, and Saskia Laroo on trumpet, alto sax, bass, and vocals. The event featured additional performances from talented local jazz ensembles, celebrating The Hague's vibrant music scene.

Duo Laroo/Byrd: Trumpeter Saskia Laroo, hailing from Amsterdam, and pianist Warren Byrd, from the United States, have been captivating audiences worldwide for over 15 years. Known for their eclectic approach to jazz, their music seamlessly fuses elements of bebop, gospel, and blues, presenting both fresh takes on jazz standards and their own original compositions. They have performed across the globe, including in Hong Kong, Burundi, Vietnam, the U.S., and Indonesia. Their acclaimed album, Two Of A Kind: A Tribute to Miles & Monk (2011), stands as a testament to their dedication to jazz heritage.

New Space Studio: Located in The Hague, New Space Studio is a unique venue dedicated to showcasing diverse musical talents, hosting both local and international artists. The video and sound production were expertly crafted by Orion Nijman and Guus van Diemen.This video not only captures the essence of Duo Laroo/Byrd’s live performance but also serves as a showcase for The Netherland's thriving jazz community.
